Indigestion Constipation
Indigestion Constipation- How to Cope with it in a Systematic Way
The problem of constipation crops up when the transit time of the food increases. Normally the food may take around 24 hours to travel from our mouth to the rectum after getting egested and digested properly.
However if there is some problem in the colon then the food stagnates for longer durations in our intestines. Due to various reasons the waste products block the colon. This affects our digestive process too. The nutrients absorption from the food gets slowed down because the intestinal lining gets covered by the toxic waste or stools.
Moreover the stagnant food produces gases and bacteria. It begins to rot in the colon and may cause indigestion constipation syndrome. Hence amongst the various side-effects of constipation, indigestion is one of them. The other side-effects include:
- Coated tongue
- Dizziness
- Hemorrhoids
- Anal fissures
- Fecal impaction
- Mood swings
- Gas
- Prolapse
- A feeling of incomplete evacuation of bowels
Hence, if we cure constipation we would be protecting ourselves from all these troubles as well.
Some of the main causes of constipation are as follows:
- Lack of dietary fiber
- Lack of enough fluid intake
- Absence of enough physical activities
- Stress
- Changes in daily routine such as travel
- Pregnancy
- Old age
- Intake of fast foods, aerated drinks, colas, alcohol, hydrogenated oil, processed and refined stuff.
Some of the natural ways of getting rid of the indigestion constipation syndrome are as follows:
- Sat isabgol which is internationally known as psyllium husk is an effective way of dealing with the indigestion constipation syndrome. One may not worry about the side-effects as it has none. It is a safe and mild bulk-producing laxative. It adds bulk to our stool which is very important for a normal egestion of the wastes. The bulk provides a grip to the intestinal walls during peristalsis. Peristalsis is the wave-like contraction that pushes the waste forward towards the rectum. The husk can be added to water or fruit juice and taken at night. One should necessarily increase the water intake simultaneously because this fiber supplement needs water to swell up and form a gel-like substance. This substance provides the much needed bulk to our stool. This husk protects the colon from substances such as caffeine that slow down peristalsis.
- One should drink water early in the morning and go for a walk. This helps in clearing of the congestion in our bowels.
The indigestion constipation syndrome also affects the women who are in their menopausal stage. This generally happens because the gastrointestinal tract becomes sluggish and there is a lot of pressure on the liver.
Eating in haste, eating in excess and eating junk foods may cause indigestion.
Carbonated water is effective in curing indigestion and constipation. Ginger tea or in the form of a capsule helps in curing indigestion too.
