Which Foods Are Good For You During Constipation?
Foods are essential for the body. They provide energy to work. There are certain foods that excite and lubricate the walls of the intestine. They are easily digestible and the body can remove them easily. There are some foods that contain fibers they are useful to the body because they help in constipation.
Foods that help in constipation are fruits, vegetables, herbs, whole grains, bran and fluids. These regulate the colon and help in proper bowel movement.
- Fruits provide necessary fibers to the body which helps in constipation. It keeps the bowel movements of the body normal. Some of the fruits which help in preventing constipation are Pears, papaya, oranges, plums, dates, apples etc. These fruits have fibers and sugar which does not allow them to digest easily. This is why they are effective in having clear bowel movements. The sugar that is not taken by the body is pushed out making it a natural laxative. They regulate the stomach and the muscles of the intestine. The upper part of the fruit has fiber content therefore fruits like apple should not be peeled before eating.
- Vegetables are also helpful in constipation. The fibers in the vegetable are not digested by the body. When it reaches intestine it absorbs water. After absorbing water it swells up to form a gel like substance. The stool softens because of the water trapped in it by the fiber. Thus it becomes easy for it to pass. Green vegetables like spinach, carrot, cauliflower, cabbage etc help in curing constipation.
- Constipation is also cured by whole grain. They include whole wheat, barley, oat bran etc.
- If one takes high fiber diets then one should increase intake of liquid. The fiber absorbs lots of water. Water gives relief from constipation by keeping the body hydrated. It also helps in releasing toxins and waste materials from the body. Soups, juices and pure water are good and healthy options. One should avoid cold drinks.
Apart from these there are certain herbs that help in curing constipation. The herbs that help in preventing and curing constipation are following:
- Aloevera juice if taken regularly works wonders in constipation. It not only cures constipation but also cleans the digestive system.
- Another stool softener is flaxseed oil. It softens the stool and regulates bowel movement.
- Psyllium seeds also help in curing constipation.
Constipation itself is not a disease instead it is a signal of coming problems like bloating, irritable bowel syndrome etc, so nip the problem in the bud and start acting today.
